Tour the World at Home Lecture Series: Marcus Patka, "The German Culture of Exiles During World War II"

Professor Patka received his PhD in Contemporary History and German Literature from the University of Vienna. Since 1994 he has served as Curator of the Jewish Museum in Vienna, creating and organizing exhibitions on literature, contemporary history, art, photography, music and theatre. This versatile professor also studied classical guitar at the Vienna Conservatory and has traveled to Mexico and throughout Europe doing research and editorial work. In addition to teaching a course on campus, Professor Patka is on the faculty of PSU's Deutsche Sommerschule am Pazifik 2004 (German Summer School on the Pacific), an intensive German language program now in its 47th year. His "Tour the World" lecture focuses on the life and work of German refugees in the 1930s and 1940s. Sponsored by the Office of International Affairs, Summer Session and the Multicultural Center.
