Portland State University will once again be participating in the Starlight Parade, and annual community event that is part of the Portland Rose Festival. We will be honoring the Class of 2014!
One of the most popular events of the Rose Festival, the Starlight Parade offers funky, eclectic fun for everyone. From traditional marching bands and flood-lit floats, to glow-in-the-dark umbrellas and unique hand-built entries, you’ll see the best of Portland’s diverse community groups (and surrounding Northwest region) together in one whimsical pageant.
Stop by the Zipcar Office at 739 SW 10th Ave, Portland to hang out with other Vikings, get a pic taken in the photobooth and watch the parade go by!
Graduating? Want to participate in the parade?
Plan to arrive at PSU's pre-parade locationat the corner of NW Davis and NW 9th Avenue (2 blocks north of Burnside) by 8pm. Look for the PSU "Fanbulance" and float celebrating our graduates. Many streets downtown will be closed and VERY crowded as spectators will be also settling in, so take the MAX!
The parade begins at 8:30pm and ends at 11. Parade ends at SW Taylor and 14th Ave, where our group will disband.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking. Please wear your PSU graduation cap and gown if you have them! We will be providing some neon green glowing items (necklaces, bracelets, etc) to everyone walking along with us, and feel free to bring your own PSU-green glow or swag as well.
