"Using Permaculture to Design Resilient Education Systems"

Michael Becker holds a bachelor's degree in Geography and a master's degree in Education, both from Portland State University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Sustainability Science at Prescott College. Ever since Michael took a Permaculture Design course, he has pursued the use of garden design as a tool for developing a hands-on approach to education. The Oregon Middle School Association named Mr. Becker the 2008 Teacher of the Year for his efforts in integrated and applied science and math instruction.
