Background:
Dr. Fountain earned his PhD from the University of Washington in 1992, and he worked in the US Geological Survey before joining Portland State University in 1996, where he is an Associate Professor of Geography and
Geology. His research in in glaciology, geomorphology, energy balance/meteorology, has taken him to Alaska, Arctic Sweden, to many glaciers in the western US and to the South Pole of Antarctica.
