Bibliographic Management Software Workshop
October 4th, 12-2:30 in 170 Library
- Timothy Anderson, Engineering and Technology Management Department
- Michael Bowman, Portland State Library
The University has recently acquired limited site licenses to two major bibliography management software packages. These are available to students, staff, and faculty. This workshop is divided into three parts.
12-1: The first hour will introduce EndNote - a popular desktop application that integrates smoothly with Word. It has been used and partially supported on campus for over a decade.
1-2: The second hour will introduce RefWorks - a new, Web-based application that also integrates with Word. Unlike a desktop application, it can be accessed easily from off-campus and doesn't require installation of new software. RefWorks strength is in its ability to allow you to share your databases with colleagues on- and off-campus.
2-2:30: The third part of the workshop discusses the relative tradeoffs between the two packages. Get advice on which software package best meets your needs.
You can attend any portions of the workshop you are interested in.
