Carl Abbott (Urban Studies and Planning, PSU) will examine depictions of the real estate development process and industry in four novels set in the American Southwest: T. C. Boyle, The Tortilla Curtain; Rudolfo Anaya, Alburquerque; Leslie Marmon Silko, Almanac of the Dead; and John Nichols, The Milagro Beanfield War.
