The Portland State University Institute for Asian Studies is pleased to partner with the dedicated volunteers of the Portland LanSu Chinese Garden to present

- First Saturday: an East Asian Program Series -

A monthly program featuring lectures on art, architecture, gardens and historical culture of China and East Asia, highlighting connections with the Pacific NW.

This year's theme is Windows into Beauty and Meaning.

DATE: Every first Saturday of the month.   |   TIME: 9:30 - 11:00am

Lectures are free and open to public.

Saturday, April 7, 9:30-11:00am   |   Location:  PSU College of Urban Affairs Bldg, Rm250*

Presenter:  Michael Riles, Ph.D., Owner, Retrospection (Asian Antique Store, Portland) and expert on Chinese porcelain, glazes and global textiles.
Topic:  Qing Porecelain of China:  Windows into Design, Poetry, Meaning and Literati Gardens.

Presenter:  Ina Asim, Ph.D., Associate Professor of pre-modern Chinese history at the Univ. of Oregon
Topic: Reaching Across the Continents:  a Sampling of Plants from China which Influenced the Gardens of Europe and the Gardening World.
