Honoree: Kristin Kaye, author of Iron Maidens
Kristin Kaye has been telling stories since she could speak. It began with the neighborhood kids. She once had them all believing that, in her spare time, she was the gorilla on Gilligan's Island. Then, her passion moved to the stage. In addition to performing and directing, Kaye wrote several plays. Most notable is her one-woman show, "What is Done is Done," shown in New York and Chicago. With the technology boom, Kaye's storytelling expertise expanded to include award-winning adaptations of literature for CD-ROM (Of Mice and Men, The Pearl, The Red Pony and The Grapes of Wrath for Penguin Electronic) and the creation of original shows for Interactive TV. Most recently, Kaye has returned to the simplicity of pen and paper (and laptop). Her favorite subjects are people, food and spas and she indulges her inquisitive nature as a freelance profile, food and travel writer. In between words, she teaches writing and Popular Culture. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and baby daughter.
