A staged reading of "Princess Ooh-Rah" by Hannah Martin, Graduate student in Theater Arts, in partial fulfillment for the Masters of Science in Theater Arts.
Set in the dual mythical lands of "America" and "Kazamb," two girls
grow up under the influence of Disney-fied fairy tales and contemporary
media. One wants to become a hero, the other just wants to escape - so
together they join the Marine Corps. Accompanied by a vocal elderly
woman, a ghost, and a green man, the duo is shipped off to Kazamb,
where the Grimm-er realities of fairy tales come calling.
A native of nowhere, playwright Hannah Martin served ten years in the military, spending various bits of time in Asia, Europe, Africa and (of course) the Middle East. She received her Bachelor's degree in English from the U.S. Naval Academy, and is honored to be finishing her Master's degree in Theater Arts at PSU this spring.
