Glaciers are common to the western United States and glaciers on Mount Hood can be seen from downtown Portland. Indeed, our urban landscape has been greatly modified by glacial flood waters during the latter part of the Ice Age. Over the past century our glaciers have been shrinking, losing the water to the ocean. How glaciers change affects alpine stream flow, and sea level change. What do we expect for the future?
