What: Portland's International Women's Day will celebrate its 32nd anniversary at the PSU Smith Center Ballroom. It is estimated that over 2000 people of diverse cultures and backgrounds will come together in a celebration that expresses the richness, beauty, and value of women and their contributions to the community. The event will feature educational workshops, art exhibits, a health fair, entertainment, retail vendors and international food.
This year's event is sponsored by the PSU Women's Resource Center and brought to you by the Portland International Women's Day Planning Committee. The event will feature a presentation by Winona LaDuke, advocate for frontline native environmental groups internationally and former Green Party Vice Presidential candidate. The event will also feature performances by Mishkin, a Zine focused art room, and a self defense workshop among other activities. The mission of Portland International Women's Day is to provide opportunities for women, and the community at large, to discover similarities and learn from the differences in an environment that is respectful, inclusive, and supportive of the values and points of view of all women.
