PARIS, TEXAS
FRANCE/GERMANY 1984
Director: WIM WENDERS

From its stark, deftly realized opening image of the lost American (Harry Dean Stanton), mutely wandering the Texas desert in a worn out suit and baseball cap, to Ry Cooder's bare bones, unforgettable folk soundtrack, PARIS, TEXAS has never felt so relevant or captivating. The film's emotional warmth, subdued sense of humor and lyrical imagery are enduring, but it's in the depiction of the nuclear family's destruction and mankind's dumb, naked relationship with his environment that the film's importance seems to have magnified. To see this movie in it's true form, beautiful 35mm on the big screen (for FREE no less!), is certainly not to be missed. (150 min)
