Tuesday, January 22, 2008 - 6:00pm to Tuesday, January 22, 2008 - 7:30pm

PORTLAND, Ore. - December 4, 2008 - Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and Portland State University (PSU) are now accepting applications for their new Joint MBA in Healthcare Management program. PSU's Graduate Business Programs Office is holding an information session from 6 - 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20 to talk about this program. The information session will be held in Room 550 of the School of Business Administration building located at 631 SW Harrison Street.

The only one of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, the MBA in Healthcare Management is designed for working professionals who seek to become leaders in the healthcare industry. The 72-credit MBA fully integrates the healthcare industry into traditional MBA coursework. Built upon the foundation of OHSU's Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management and PSU's top-ranked MBA+ program, the joint MBA brings together the faculty and resources of both OHSU and PSU. "This partnership exploits the strengths of our MBA+ program - leadership, innovation, sustainability - and OHSU's medical and health care provisioning expertise to advance professionals in one of the Northwest's biggest and most dynamic business sectors," said Professor Scott Marshall, Associate Dean, Graduate Programs and Research at the SBA.

Students will include physicians, nurses, administrators, and others with management responsibilities in healthcare organizations, insurance providers, and other healthcare-related companies. In addition to gaining a systematic understanding of the American healthcare industry and relevant business knowledge, MBA graduates will develop the interpersonal and organizational skills necessary to manage cross-professional teams and lead profound change.

To accommodate the working professional, the MBA in Healthcare Management is delivered part-time using a combination of online and in-person learning. In each ten-week term, students will participate in two "residencies" at OHSU's South Waterfront campus. Students will typically take three years to complete their MBA.

OSHU is the state's only comprehensive academic health center providing world-class educational opportunities for tomorrow's healthcare professionals. PSU is the largest university in Oregon with an MBA+ program that is ranked in the top 25% of all AACSB international accredited full-time MBA programs.
