Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - 12:00pm to Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - 1:30pm

Come join the Planning Club and the Nohad Toulan School of Urban and
Regional Planning for the first in this Winter Quarter's Brown Bag
Speaker Series!

Title: "How to Make Density Work in the Suburbs: A Market Driven
Perspective on Developing Density"

Presenters:
Jerry Johnson, Principal of Johnson-Gardner; a market analysis and
land use economics consulting firm, and
Wink Brooks, former Planning Director of Hillsboro
Summary:
In some cases zoning for high density uses can sometimes preclude
development entirely. What are the economic considerations for a
developer when building
a high density project? When does it make financial sense and when
does not? Jerry Johnson will be presenting some new research that
shows how neighborhood serving retail increases property value. Mr.
Brooks will be speaking on the OHSU/AmberGlen concept, a proposed high
density project in Hillsboro.

This event will be held in the Urban Center Room 270
