The recital will be held at Lincoln Recital Hall, Room 75, 1620 SW Park .
The recital will feature the Adagio, from Toccata in C Major by J.S. Bach/F.B. Busoni, Sonata in E Minor, Op. 90 by Beethoven, Twenty-Four Preludes, Op. 28 by Fridiric Chopin and "Memories in an Ancient Garden" from Scenes from a Jade Garden by Alexina Louie.
Dr. Chan is well respected as a performer and a scholar. The New York Concert Review described her New York dibut recital in Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, as a "gripping performance" one in which "she enveloped her audience with the simple eloquence and love with which she so lavishly interpreted this music". Ms. Chan performs extensively as soloist and chamber musician in recitals and music festivals in the United States and abroad. In addition to traditional repertoire she actively promotes music from Asia and works written by women composers. Ms. Chan holds a Doctor of Music degree in piano from Indiana University, MPhil. and BA degrees from the University of Hong Kong, as well as Fellowship and Licentiate Performance Diplomas from the Trinity College of Music in London, UK. Recently she joined the faculty at Portland State University as Assistant Professor of Music after being with Washington State University for ten years.
