Coming up on Saturday, February 12, 2011, Portland State University is proud to host Invention to Venture Portland: Innovation, Design and Intellectual Property, a seminar on the basics of technology and entrepreneurship. The event will be held on-campus, in Smith Memorial Student Union.
A pre-event networking reception will be held the day before, on Friday, February 11 from 6:30pm to 8pm, at TeaZone in Portland's Pearl District. The event is being co-hosted by the University of Portland Entrepreneurship Center.
Cost is $25 for university students, faculty members and staff, and $50 for the general public. The School of Business Administration is offering 10 free registrations to the event for Portland State grad students. PSU MBA students can email Adam Smith if interested in attending. The ten free registration codes will be released to the first students who reply.
The workshop is open to anyone who wants to know more about what it takes to commercialize a technology or new product idea. Presentations will focus on new venture planning, prototyping, marketing, intellectual property, open source development, funding, and related topics. The event boasts a terrific lineup of speakers who are experts in product design, intellectual property, and launching new ventures. Their bios are listed on the event website.
