*This presentation will examine the methodology used to identify regional core industrial sectors of the Korean economy. The objective of this work is to explore strategic perspectives related to regional cluster development plans, particularly the important role of nodal sectors and their forward-backward linkage structures within industrial clusters. Policy implications of this research will be discussed.
Dr. Sun Bae Kim is currently on sabbatical leave from KIET, and will be in residence at PSU through February 2007.
The Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade (KIET) is a leading think tank and government-sponsored research institute.
Established in 1976, KIET conducts research on national economic development and trade issues, and advises both the public and private sectors on industrial policies.
