Hudson River 1826 Exhibit @ PSU Library
June 1 through June 28
French engraver, Jacques Girard Milbert, recorded his journey from Virginia to Maine in 1826 through drawings. The primary focus for his art was the pleine air scenes along the Hudson River from New York City to Niagra Falls. On display in the new books area of the PSU Millar Library are reprints of Milbert's engravings charting his travels along the Hudson River.
The original title of Milbert's collection is entitled, Itiniaire Pittoresque du Fleuve Hudson et des Parties Laterales, published by Chez Henry Gaugain & Cie, Paris. The reprints of the engravings are published as Picturesque Itinerary of the Hudson River by Gregg Press, Ridgewood, New Jersey, 1968.
