In collaboration with the Northwest Film Center School of Film, PCPH is excited to present a screening of cult classic, “Heathers” (1988) at 5th Avenue Cinema.
For the uninitiated: think of Heathers as the original Mean Girls. Directed by Michael Lehmann, this coming-of-age comedy features a young Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, and Shannen Doherty among others, in a delightfully dark comedy about an exclusive high school clique prone to cruel habits. When one of the members tries to exact revenge, a chain reaction of unfortunate events (and unforgettable quotes) ensues. 25 years later, Heathers has found a new life as a Broadway musical, and was recently lauded by The Atlantic, in an article that called the film “unmatched by its descendants. Seen today, it deserves to be celebrated as an early, scathing critique of a culture that celebrates mediocrity and is indifferent to suffering.”
The event is free and open to the public, light fare will be provided. Passes for Northwest Film Center screenings will be available for attendees!
