Haystack Teachers to Speak to PSU Writing Students on Upcoming Workshops
Tuesday, May 17, 2005 - 12:30pm to Tuesday, May 17, 2005 - 1:30pm

Elizabeth Snyder, Haystack Coordinator, will be joined by Dangerous Writers Steven Allred and Joanna Rose, and by Susan Fletcher, Margaret Bechard, and Linda Zuckerman of the Children's Book Conference, representing just a sample of the many Haystack creative writing workshops this summer. Ms. Snyder will give us a taste of the history of the Haystack program, and explain how easy it is to use financial aid funds to pay for Haystack classes and to get PSU credit. Then the writing teachers will describe their Haystack offerings.

When: Tuesday, May 17th, 12:30-1:30 pm

Where: Portland State University, Neuberger Hall, 407

Why: To entice you to take your writing to the next level

The Dangerous Writers pack the house everywhere they go, so make sure to grab a seat early! Dangerous Writing is a community of writers that has formed around Portland's Tom Spanbauer, Pulitzer-nominated author of the novels The Man Who Fell In Love With The Moon and In the City of Shy Hunters. The Dangerous Writing approach creates a safe environment for writers to take risks in their writing.

The Children's Book Conference, a Haystack event, will be held at Reed College in Portland, July 11-15, and will feature talks and workshops on writing and illustrating children's books as well as information on publishing and agents.
