On the eve of the premiere of Mira Nair's new movie "Amelia", the PSU Friends of History is showing a free documentary on America's first and most famous woman aviator, Amelia Earhart. The Biography covers Earhart's early years and influences, her marriage to publisher George Putnam (the main founder of Salem's Statesman Journal), and her history-making flights. It ends with her mysterious disappearance on July 2, 1937 while she was attempting to fly around the world.

The documentary incorporates extensive newsreel footage, newly discovered historical resources, interviews with historians, colleagues and family members and more. Refreshments will be served.
