Film: Let The Right One In
Saturday, March 14, 2009 - 7:00pm

An endearing story of romance and vampirism set amidst the icy monliths of Socialst-Bloc Sweden. 12-year old Oskar is an adorable, fragile, anxious boy who dreams of revenge against the school bullies and wishes for a true companion. Enter, Eli, a dark and disturbingly powerful young girl, also age 12. Subtly and quickly a quietly sweet romance blossoms between the two. This, just as the reality of their respective situations comes crashing down. This crash takes the form of the realization that Eli (an eternally 12 year old vampire with a mysterious and menacing past) will soon have to resume her continual hunt for blood and the parallel flight from the Law. At the same time, the bullies from school are closing in for an act of particularly brutal adolescent torture. Delicate and direct, sincerely charming and truly creepy, this film delivers in a bloody way that teen love story/vampire flicks tend to utterly fail.
