WHAT: Conflict Resolution Department's Rachel Hardesty: Women
Accessing Tertiary Education Opportunities & Challenges Online
Higher education is expensive and often inaccessible to people who are
trying to hold down jobs and manage family responsibilities. Online
asynchronous classes meet several of these needs at once. For single
women parenting children in particular this is a a possible avenue to
higher income positions. However, increasingly additional online fees
are being charged to pay for technical support services. Are these
students unfairly carrying the burden of improved technical support
for the entire student body? This talk will address this and other
issues of moving more of our classes online and out of premium daytime
slots with regard to making higher education accessible.
