"In the Face of Guatemala's Sexual and Environmental Violence: Indigenous Women's Non-Violent Responses" with Patricia Rumer

Pat has forty years experience in international and local community development work beginning as a community development volunteer with indigenous women in the Guatemalan highlands. Pat has taught, evaluated, funded, developed leadership programs and been a community justice advocate with local, national and global causes. She has a PhD from PSU's College of Urban and Public Affairs, MA in Political Science from UCLA and a BA from Occidental College, Los Angeles, California. She has taught international Capstones at PSU focused on community development and women's empowerment. In 2009 she co-produced a DVD on women's economic development in Chiapas, Mexico for community partner, Mercy Corps. More recently, through a PSU international mini-grant she filmed Interviews with Zambian civil society concerning the impact of external debt cancellation on progress towards the Millennium Development Goals. This summer Pat travelled to Guatemala as part of the Guatemala Human Rights Commission/USA Women in Resistance delegation.
