The talk will cover the features of IEEE Xplore, Compendex, and other electronic journals. It will also cover the use of new technologies (in particular RSS feeds) to keep current in the literature and avoid information overload.
Michael Bowman is the Engineering Librarian at Portland State University. He received his B.S. in physics in 1984 and his M.S. in librarianship in 1986 from the University of Washington. From 1987 to 1992 he was the Physical Sciences Librarian at Rutgers University - Newark. He has been the Engineering Librarian at Portland State since 1992. In 2001, he also became the Coordinator of Reference and Information Services, and in fall 2005, the Interim Assistant University Librarian for Public Services.
