Students of the Portland State University award-winning opera program will be joined by Portland’s own opera star Richard Zeller in the title role, Ken Selden conductor, and are directed by internationally acclaimed stage director Tito Capobianco in Giuseppe Verdi’s final masterpiece!  Written when Verdi was nearly 80, this opera sparkles with freshness and originality.  The score is overflowing with wit and revelry, and brims with freshness and human nature.  Adapted from Shakespeare’s play, The Merry Wives of Windsor, it is the story of a lovable scoundrel and rogue who is running out of money and looking for a quick fix.  He sets his sights on two rich women, and writes them love letters.  But he doesn't fool anyone, and ultimately learns his lesson.
