One of the foremost scholars of critical mathematics education, Professor Martin problematizes the racialized nature of the experience of African-American students of mathematics.  His major books are Mathematics Success and Failure Among African American Youth (2006)  and Mathematics Teaching, Learning, and Liberation in the Lives of Black Children (2009)
