Citizen Corps Youth Action Summit

A Citizen Corps Youth Action Summit is going to be held at Portland State University.

The summit aims to educate young global leaders about global hunger issues and the current global food crisis in particular. The youth summit will put emphasis on equipping young leaders with action tools and skills necessary to tackle these issues globally and locally. At the end of the summit, young leaders will have the tools to develop and implement action projects in their schools and communities.

The confirmed panel speakers include: Cathy Bergman, Food Security Program Officer at Mercy Corps; Michael Hiland, advocate at Bread for the World; Claire Simmons of Portland Projects; and Nat Parker, Regional Manager for Sierra Club.

When: Thursday, August 14th, 2008
Smith Memorial Student Union (Multicultural Center, room 228)
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and program starts at 9 a.m.
The summit is free

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
