WHAT: A candlelight vigil to raise awareness and pray for the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The event is being organized by students from Portland State University, Portland Community College, and University of Oregon.
WHEN: Friday, March 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.
WHERE: Pioneer Square in downtown Portland, 715 S.W. Morrison St.
Please feel free to bring wax-free and non-colored candles to the vigil. Battery operated candles or lights are a good option in case of rain.
The vigil is also a relief-effort fundraising event. In collaboration with Mercy Corps, all the donations will go to Peace Winds Japan, a non-governmental organization dedicated to the support of people in distress.
