Two evening lectures by internationally recognized architectural thinkers addressing issues of poetics, ethics and the phenomenology of experience.

Juhani Pallasmaa, Architect SAFA, Hon. FAIA, has practiced architecture since the early 1960s, establishing his own office, Juhani Pallasmaa Architects in Helsinki in 1983. In addition to architectural design, his practice has been active in urban, product and graphic design.

Professor Pallasmaa has taught and lectured widely in Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia, and published books and numerous essays on the philosophy and critique of architecture and the arts in twenty five languages. These include notably The Eyes of the Skin (1996) and more recently Encounters: Architectural Essays (2005).

Professor Pallasmaa has been Professor and Dean at the Helsinki University of Technology, State Artist Professor, Director of the Museum of Finnish Architecture, and Rector of the Institute of Industiral Arts, Helsinki. He has received several honorary doctorates and international awards recognizing his achievements as an architect, educator and critic.
