Help save the life of a leukemia patient by registering to
be a bone marrow donor!
OHSU and Alpha Kappa Psi will be hosting a Bone Marrow Registry Drive.
When: Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Where: PSU Multicultural Center, SMSU 228
Time: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
What registering means: Your data from the forms and from the cheek swab will be entered into a registry. When a person is diagnosed with leukemia (usually children), they are cross-referenced to those who are in the database. If a match is found, it is then that bone marrow is actually donated.
People who volunteer to register will first be shown a short video on the process of donating bone marrow. They will then fill out some forms and paperwork. After that a cheek swab will be taken. That is it! No bone marrow will be taken at that time.
