Bi-State Metropolitan Forum: Building a Healthy Economy for Oregon and Washington
Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski and Washington Gov. Chris
Gregoire will both be featured guests at the 2006 Bi-State Metropolitan
Forum, "Building a Healthy Economy for Oregon and Washington," hosted
by the Institute of Portland Metropolitan Studies in the College of
Urban and Public Affairs at Portland State University. This all-day
forum will also feature Portland and Vancouver Mayors Tom Potter and
Royce Pollard. Discussion topics will include perspectives on managing
cities in a two-state region, success and opportunities in bi-state
cooperation, pooling assets of education and training and combing
forces on economic development and smart energy. Participants will
identify key opportunities for advancing the region's economy by
cooperating in these areas.
Keynote luncheon speaker is Kip Berstrom, executive director of the Rhode Island Economic Policy Council.
Kip has been Rhode Island's leading advocate for regionalism, and has
helped to launch several regional initiatives in the areas of economic
development, transportation, land conservation, workforce development,
higher education and research and technology commercialization.
