The Asphalt Jungle
US 1950
Director: John Huston

Exquisitely shot with the characteristic grit and innate beauty of the noir aesthetic, THE ASPHALT JUNGLE remains a classic of the genre. Sterling Hayden stars as tough guy Dix Handley, hired as the muscle for a gang plotting the perfect crime: a million-dollar jewelry store heist. Sam Jaffe portrays the criminal mastermind who hatches a plan so perfect it may just be their undoing. Huston displays his trademark appreciation for the social outsider as he masterfully weaves a seamless plot. A young, pre-stardom Marilyn Monroe co-stars. (112 min)
