recent Columbia River project sites at Umatilla and North Portland

What can archaeology tell us about ancient cultures here at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers? How can scientists study early cultures while respecting contemporary Native peoples and cultures? What are our shared interests in protecting our cultural, historic and pre- historic sites and private collections from vandalism, looting and other dispersal?
