Active Learning? Not with My Syllabus!

Abstract:
It is widely accepted among statistics educators that engaging students with activities can help them learn important statistical concepts. But finding the time to do such activities in class can be challenging for college instructors with an over-full syllabus and limited student contact time. In this talk, I will focus on one part of the introductory statistics course - probability. I will discuss an approach to teaching probability that uses an activity to get students involved, but also minimizes the amount of time spent on the subject.
