David Korten's best-selling books When Corporations Rule the World and The Post-Corporate World: Life After Capitalism have had global impact. In The Great Turning Korten claims that a mounting perfect economic storm is fast approaching and discusses the impact of climate change, peak oil, and financial instability on modern life. Envision with Korten how sustainable bioregional economic systems and grassroots networking efforts, and a revitalizing of the international movement for peace and justice provide strong promise for a different future. The Great Turning suggests that humans are at a defining moment and face both the opportunity and the imperative to choose our future.
