Come join us for this fun and family-oriented celebration of peace and
friendship. The display of Iranian contributions to Portland’s cultural mosaic will include:
- Traditional Iranian and
Kurdish music by the Seattle
based group Kamand
- San Francisco’s Niloufar Talebi
will perform literary pieces from “Belonging” with musicians Bobak
Salehi, Nat Hulskamp, Chaz Hastings, Fabod Sedeh, Basheer Badii and Parisa
Rabii
- Classical and modern Persian
dance
- Children’s activities
- Iranian cuisine
- Iran-related book fair
- Iranian art, carpet and other vendors,
businesses and non-profit booths such as the American Iranian Friendship
Council, which seeks to build on the historical friendship between the citizens
of both countries
The
Festival will recognize outstanding contributors to the community.

educator’s workshop titled “Images of Iran: Cinema, Art, and Media" will be held on Friday,
August 1, 2008, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Smith Memorial Student Union, PSU $15
general, $10 full-time students. Offered by the Middle East Studies
