Stories of TRUST: Calling for Climate Recovery

Crag Law CenterOur Children’s Trust, and WITNESS present an evening of film, food, discussion and hope that highlights the stories of the brave youth who sued the government for failing to protect the atmosphere as a public trust resource. Stories of TRUST: Calling for Climate Recovery is a 10-part series featuring the voices of daring youth from across the country who have pursued lawsuits and are asking the ruling generation to hear their climate change concerns.

SPEAKERS: Guest speakers will include youth plaintiffs Kelsey Juliana (Oregon), Nelson Kanuk (Alaska) and John Thiebes (Montana), WITNESS filmmakers Kelly Matheson and Christi Cooper-Kuhn, attorneys Tanya Sanerib and Julia Olson and meteorologist Shawn Weagle.

Background: Crag Law Center is currently representing two young Eugene girls in a ground-breaking lawsuit demanding that the Sate of Oregon take action to curb climate change to protect natural resources in our state.  Lane County Circuit Judge Karsten Rasmussen is currently deliberating the State's motion to dismiss the case. The Oregon law suit is part of an international movement in which youth around the world are demanding their governments protect their futures by joining with attorneys to file groundbreaking climate change lawsuits using the Public Trust Doctrine.
