UPDATE: ARREST OF SUBJECT IN THE SEXUAL ASSAULT AT PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY

Detectives have made an arrest in this case, 24-year-old Robert Edward Foster has been arrested in the PSU sex assault. He was arrested at his home in Beaverton after trying to flee out a back window.

The United States Marshal Service, Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Foster.  Foster will be booked within the hour at the Multnomah County Detention Center on the following charges: Sex Abuse in the First Degree, Burglary in the Second Degree and Indecent Exposure.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE

The Portland Police Bureau and PSU Campus Public Safety Officers are investigating a sexual assault that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, December 20, 2011 in a first-floor restroom of the Academic and Student Recreation Center. An unknown male suspect, described as in his 30(s), approximately 5'8 to 5'9 and of medium build, followed the victim into the restroom, exposed himself, and then assaulted the individual.  The suspect then fled and is still at large. Accordingly, please be vigilant and aware of your surroundings on and off campus and call 911 if you observe suspicious behavior or if you have any concerns about your personal safety.  Additional information and updates about this incident will be available on this website as they become available.
