Roy Koch has announced his intent to retire at the end of the 2011-2012 academic year, his 30th at PSU and seventh as provost and vice president for academic affairs.
I am grateful to Roy for his service, and for his commitment to moving several important projects forward this year, including the formation of a strategic enrollment management plan, implementation of an expanded set of faculty ranks, and development of a new budget allocation process.
We will have opportunities in the coming months to celebrate Roy's legacy and accomplishments. Now, however, we must begin the difficult task of finding a suitable candidate to succeed him as provost and chief academic officer.
Executive search firm Isaacson, Miller will assist us in this process. I have asked Jon Fink, vice president, Research and Strategic Partnerships, to chair the search committee.
