AAA Oregon/Idaho Unveils EV-Charging Roadside Assistance Truck
The Automobile Association of America (AAA) is launching a program to test roadside assistance vehicles with the ability to charge electric vehicles with a demonstration at Electric Avenue on Friday, August 3.
Portland is one of six metro areas testing the new EV charging trucks, along with Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Knoxville, and Orlando. The pilot program will include roadside assistance vehicles equipped with different forms of technology used for EV mobile charging, allowing AAA to evaluate multiple technologies in different environments. The Portland truck is powered by a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueled generator, and can provide 10-15 minutes of quick-charge time at either 240 volts AC or 440 volts DC.
Join John Porter, President and CEO of AAA Oregon/Idaho, Pete Herstedt, Vice President of Automotive Services, and Rob Porter, Fleet Services Manager for AAA Oregon/Idaho between 9-11:00am on Friday at the intersection of SW Montgomery and Sixth Avenue in downtown Portland.
