Pre-award Support

Currently, the GSE employs one full-time Grant Project Specialist. Therefore, the amount of proposal development and submission support available to GSE researchers depends on the lead time.

The amount of support is also contingent upon how many proposals are in development, and which has the most immediate deadline.

Six or more weeks before deadline

Typically, with six or more weeks' notification before a deadline, the the Grant Project Specialist can provide the following support:

• Interpret agency guidelines and contract language
• Summarize RFP
• Create Priority Checklist
• Create Checklist of Proposal pieces/tasks
• Meet with proposal development team to set timelines for and to assign tasks
• Help with literature and supporting data search
• Assist with letters of intent and pre-proposals
• Develop and review internal and external budgets
• Fill in standard statements and approved budget figures on Budget Justification
• Draft Sample letters of support/commitment
• Create contact list of potential supporters/collaborators
• Draft boilerplate language on PSU resources and accessibility
• Collect resumes and biosketches - edit for length
• Proofread, edit, and format proposal, appendices, and references (time permitting)
• Review entire proposal for consistency and compliance
• Notify ORSP of proposal and send budget, abstract, and justification for review
• Fill-in agency and PSU forms
• Obtain approvals and signatures on internal forms
• Copy, mail, or upload proposal
• Track proposal delivery

Three to four weeks before deadline

Typically, with three to four weeks' notification before a deadline, the Grant Project Specialist can provide the following support:

With less than two weeks before deadline, the Grant Project Specialst (if available) can provide the following support:

• Copy, mail, or upload proposal
