MISL Computer LabsThe MISL computer labs are available for general student use, and use by Graduate School of Education classes. The lab is not available for general use when there are classes present. A schedule of classes using the lab is posted on the bulletin board outside the PC lab each month. When an instructor needs to take advantage of equipment housed in one of the labs or the MISL classroom, they must reserve a space by calling lab staff at 503-725-4607. Since the labs get a great deal of use, it helps to reserve lab space well in advance. Assistance in returning equipment, putting chairs and tables back in their normal places, enforcing our no food or drink policies, and policing the space you have been using is greatly appreciated. Wireless AccessWe have 5 PC and 5 Macintosh laptops with wireless access to the Portland State University's Pubnet. These are only available for use in the lab or may be checked out by faculty for use in School of Education classrooms. Student and Faculty laptopsWe have a limited number of laptops for student and faculty check-out. Student use is limited to 48 hour loans. Anyone needing an exception must contact the lab director. This lab was originally donated by Hewlett-Packard with assistance from Intel and Microsoft, and upgraded with PSU Student Tech Fee support funds in fall of 2002 and spring of 2007. Software includes: Windows XP; Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007; Adobe Photoshop; QSR NuDIST; SPSS; Inspiration; Kidspiration; and assistive adaptive software. The lab also has a SmartBoard, CD recorders, and full Internet access.
This lab was purchased with the help of our PT3 grant, and upgraded with PSU Student Tech Fee support funds in the fall of 2003 and spring of 2008. Software includes: OS X 10.5 (Leopard); Microsoft Office 2004; iLife with iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes, iDVD & iWeb; Inspiration; Kidspiration; Keynote; and Appleworks. The lab also has a SmartBoard, CD & DVD recorders, and full Internet access.
