Information for Students

This page contains information for students in all programs requiring field placements.

 

For GTEP and Library/Media Initial License Students

Instructions:

To initiate the placement process for these programs, each student must:

  1. Submit an electronic resume:
    • Title this document: Last Name, First Name - resume (e.g.: Smith, Jim - resume.doc)
    • Submit resume by email to fieldplacement@pdx.edu
  2. Submit a signed Declaration of Placement to the Field Placement office.
  3. Submit a completed Student Teaching Application to the Field Placement office.
  4. Successfully submit fingerprints to TSPC.

Before beginning student teaching, each student must provide:

  1. Proof of fingerprint clearance
  2. Passing Praxis scores (Choose your state from the pull-down menu under "State Testing Requirements")
  3. Department Recommendation in content area (secondary only)

After you have completed the Student Teaching Application, submitted a signed Declaration of Placement and an electronic resume, and submitted your fingerprints to TSPC, no further action is required on your part. The Office of Field Placement sends requests on your behalf, which include a copy of your resume, to districts and/or schools (depending on district protocol). We will notify you as soon as we receive placement information. Until you receive official confirmation from our office, please know that we are diligently working on securing your placement.

For SPED, Dual, and Counselor Education Students

Instructions:

Placement information will be provided at Orientation following admission to the SPED, Dual, and Counselor Education programs. Each student will be required to:

  1. Submit an electronic resume:
    • Title this document: Last Name, First Name - resume (e.g.: Smith, Jim - resume.doc)
    • Submit resume by email to janap@pdx.edu
  2. Submit a signed Declaration of Placement (PDF) to the Field Placement office.
  3. Submit a completed Student Teaching Application to the Field Placement office.
  4. Successfully submit fingerprints to TSPC.
