Faculty Reserve Materials
Information for Faculty
The Metropolitan Instructional Support Laboratory (MISL) provides space for faculty to leave “reserve” materials that support the teaching and learning of their students. Faculty are responsible for assuring that photocopied materials meet Portland State University’s Copyright Policy as outlined on the Millar Library website (library.pdx.edu/reservescopyrightpolicy). MISL staff are not allowed to photocopy copyrighted materials for faculty, staff, or students.
In order to assure timely access, materials must be received at least one week in advance so that they can be cataloged before students begin requesting them. Faculty will be asked to fill out a reserve slip for each item indicating how long materials may be kept, whether or not they can leave the MISL, and whether a detection sticker can be added to the item. All reserve items will be returned at the end of the term unless other arrangements are made ahead of time, allowing for maximum use of limited space.
Faculty are encouraged to take advantage of the Millar Library’s Ereserves (psu-eres.lib.pdx.edu/eres/courseindex.aspx?page=search) to provide more equitable access for students.
Information for Students
Faculty Reserve Materials are housed in the cupboards behind the MISL Staff Desk. In general, they are arranged according to the last name of your instructor. Please ask lab staff to find these materials for you when you need them. The length of time they may be used and restrictions on whether or not they can leave the lab are at the discretion of the individual faculty member.
Samples of Doctoral Program papers can be found in the gray file cabinet below the stairs. They are for lab use only.
