Doctor of Education (Ed.D.)

Classes, Exams, and Dissertation

The Ed.D. program contains three major phases: coursework, comprehensive exams (papers), and dissertation research.

A minimum of 135 hours of approved program credits, successful completion of a core comprehensive exam (paper), successful completion of a specialization exam (paper) and dissertation research, writing and defense embody the requirements of the program. After admission to the doctoral program, a minimum of 72 credits must be completed at PSU. No 800-level course are allowed (including courses numbered 808).
