Doctoral Program Coordinator: Meet Dr. Samuel D. Henry

Samuel earned an Ed.D. from Columbia University Teachers College with field study research of culture contact and the curriculum in an urban, poly-ethnic high school. He taught English and social studies in public schools and has worked in higher education as an administrator and faculty member for thirty years. His interests include culture contact in education, curriculum development, organizational leadership and policy, and international education. He also has chaired the Oregon Commission on Children and Families since his nomination by Gov. Kulongowski in 2003. With service on more than a dozen doctoral dissertations, Samuel has coordinated the Educational Leadership Program since Fall 2007. He has provided program leadership during the assessment and revision process. In fall he offers advisement sessions for prospective doctoral program applicants.
