Renewable Northwest Project Communications Internship
Renewable Northwest Project (RNP) www.rnp.org is the Northwest region's preeminent renewable energy advocacy organization. We are supported by over fifty members representing diverse sectors - including business, non-profit, industry and education - who share a vision of a clean energy future. RNP promotes the responsible development of renewable energy resources - such as wind, solar and geothermal - by cultivating a supportive policy climate, streamlined siting processes and by fostering a healthy renewable energy market. The organization is recognized nationally as a leading model for effective renewable energy advocacy.
RNP is seeking an intern to work with our communications staff. Communications efforts support all aspects of our advocacy, including internal communications - such as planning and outreach among RNP members - and external communications, such as media outreach and community relations. Given the nature of our work, intern should expect fast-paced environment where employees enjoy what they do, lending diverse skills and ideas to support a common cause. Projects: Media list development and maintenance, tracking and archiving news coverage, social media campaigns, assistance withwriting and editing, rich media content development and use(photo and video gathering), and others based on interests.Learning Opportunities: Intern will work closely with the RNPCommunications Manager to learn about important energy issues,how advocates support them, and strategic communicationsprocesses and best practices.
Compensation:$1,000 per term for undergraduates and $1,500 per term for graduate students, Approx. 15 hours per week. Passionate advocates with diverse expertise, so the intern will haveopportunity to glean knowledge and explore professionaldevelopment in a rich environment.
Basic qualifications:

- Flexibility, initiative, and ability to work as part of a team
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- PSU undergraduate or graduate student
- An interest in promoting a renewable energy future forthe Northwest

City of Lake Oswego, Sustainability Internship
Sustainability Outreach Specialist
The Position: The City of Lake Oswego has a comprehensive sustainability program and is seeking an intern for early 2012. Under direction of the Sustainability Coordinator, the intern will develop, coordinate, and implement education and outreach strategies for external (community) and internal (City staff) audiences, including Sustainability Action Month, May 2012, to accomplish sustainability program goals in the following areas: climate change mitigation and adaptation / community resilience, energy conservation and renewable energy, waste reduction and recycling, food systems, and purchasing / consumption. The position will also work with members of the Sustainability Advisory Board, other City staff, and community volunteers.
This position requires initiative, stellar organization and time management skills and attention to detail. We are looking for a self-starter who can work well independently and as part of a team, with skills to write and design audience-appropriate sustainability outreach materials for web and print media. Candidates must be comfortable asking questions for clarification and task completion.
Education and Experience: A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is to be a high school graduate or possess a certificate of equivalency upon appointment and be a graduate student in Sustainability, Planning, Community Development, Environmental Studies/Sciences, Geography, Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, or other related field and have a demonstrated interest in gaining experience and exposure to local government outreach; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
The position: 20-30 hours per week, will start January 2012 and likely last through August 2012. Pay is $12.00 - $14.00 an hour dependent upon skills and experience. There are no benefits associated with this position.
