Learning through doing. One of the best ways to absorb material is through hands-on experience. From the very first class - ECE 101 - our department emphasizes project-based learning.
For undergrads, ECE 101 helps students gain expererience in important engineering skills like the design process, working in teams and presenting a final project. The labs in the ECE 221/222/223 sequence transition from introductory labs to more design-oriented "mini-projects" to a quarter-long simulation project. The culmanation of the undergrad experience is ECE's national recognized Capstone sequence. Students work in teams on real-life problems from industry. Many groups work on their projects within their sponsor's business giving students both a hands-on advantage as well as a face-to-face one.
