Participation in research provides many benefits to students. It's an excellent way to help students prepare themselves for successful careers, regardless of whether their career goals after graduation are practical engineering positons in industry, graduate school, post-doctoral research, or research positions. Participation in research, and learning the process and rigor of knowledge discovery, improves critical thinking and provides a foundation for lifelong learning.
Participation in research is especially helpful in helping students distinguish themselves when applying to graduate schools or positions after graduation.
Students interested in participating in research are encouraged to directly contact faculty who are working in their areas of interest. Most of our areas of active research are described as part of our listing of research laboratories and research assistantships.
